2007 July: North

July is now over. It has been a great month. Today my wife and I are
celebrating our 2 month anniversary. I went and bought her a digital camera
today after work. She doesn't know that I did it. I'll suprise her with it
this evening. We have some money left over from our wedding and she
mentioned that she'd like a digital camera. It's going to be a wonderful
suprise.

Speaking of money, in a series of unlikely events I found out about a grant
called the SMART grant that I am eligible for. Usually people are
automatically considered for the grant when they apply for a PEL grant, but
for some reason I wasn't. When I found out about it I went and talked to
somebody at ISU and they said they'd look into it. A week later I found out
that I will be given $4000 for this next school year; combined with my other
scholarships and PEL grants that means I won't have to pay anything out of
my own pocket for school. What a great blessing that is! Becky and I are
glad that we pay our tithing faithfully. (tomorrow I'm going to buy a lot
of chamaine so that I can bathe in it)

Rob, we all had fun at your expense at our little octet party last month.
Jason did the funniest impression of you on drugs. It was hillarious. (OK
just kidding, we didn't make fun of you, we did have fun, but it would have
been more fun if you could have made it).

Well it's pretty clear from the newsletter who the computer programmer is
with all those cool little hyperlinks in his post, and who the english guy
is, with his use of unusual metaphors (unicorns and moonbeams), but you
can't really tell what I am yet. I guess it means I'm still getting there.
Soon maybe I'll start including gruesome details about operations I've seen
or something.
Jason, congrats and good luck in Oregon. I know it sounds like something
you'd hear at a funeral, but I'll say it anyway, "you've got to a better
place". Oh and happy birthday Rob and Jason.
